Family is everything to me. It's the reason we do what we do, the thing that lasts when everything else fades. And I don't just want to photograph yours, I want you to really see how beautiful this season is. Even when it feels messy & chaotic. Especially when it feels messy & chaotic.
Photography lets me show you what I see. How your kids look at you, how much love is in the everyday moments. Not just how everyone looked, but how it all felt in the moment. And if you're trusting me with these years, I'm going to make sure you remember them exactly as they were.
I'm the kind of person who wants to hear the whole story, not just the good parts. (And I'll probably tell you way too much about my own life too.) I love the organized chaos of a session where I'm singing a Miss Rachel song to your toddler one minute and talking about your weekend plans the next. That's when I'm happiest. I can't wait to meet you and your people!
I started taking courses as a creative outlet, which eventually led me to
start my own business. That attention to detail I once poured into engineeringsite plans now guides the way I see angles, perspective, and framing through my lens.
I've learned over time that the best photos aren't always the posed ones, but
the unscripted, raw moments like my mom assembling my sister's wedding
cake or my nephew laughing over balloons floating to the ceiling. I'm SO
thrilled to celebrate my clients as they enter new chapters in life, from
"I'm graduating this spring!" to "we're expecting a baby girl!". Being able
to provide an album to look back on for years to come warms my heart
so much.
I'm one of four girls and growing up, my parents were always taking pictures or filming us. Once I caught on, I was itching to get on the other side of the camera myself. By the time we were teenagers, I was the one organizing family photoshoots. I loved finding the perfect spot, arranging everyone and getting the shot just right.
I went on to graduate from college (hook 'em horns!) and worked full time as a civil engineer for a few years. But deep down I knew I wanted to be doing something more vibrant and creative, with people's stories and emotions at the heart of it all. Facing major health setbacks became a turning point that made me reconsider what I truly wanted out of life. I began to give myself permission to follow my heart and that's when I found myself drawn back to photography.

Pocket Aces Pictures started long before I ever picked up a camera. When I was younger, my aunt taught my sisters and me how to play blackjack and Texas hold'em as soon as we were old enough to add numbers together. We would stay up way too late laughing, talking smack and singing along to the old songs on her jukebox.
Years later, my sisters and I were on a trip with our partners and decided to play some poker again. The table was bigger and the jokes were louder, but the feeling was the same.. that warmth that comes when you get to be surrounded by your favorite people.
Some time later, when my husband and I got married, my sisters gave a speech that moved everyone from belly laughing to crying. Toward the end of their speech, they referenced the quote “A good marriage is where each partner secretly suspects they got the better deal.” Then they added,
That little moment rooted itself in my heart and never left.
When I started my business, I wracked my brain for a name that felt true to its roots. I wanted it to carry love, intention, and joy. I wanted it to reflect the quiet support my husband and family have given me as I've grown my business and my values over time. Pocket Aces felt like the only name that truly held all of that.
As I have built up my business, I've found myself drawn again and again to families and motherhood. My favorite images are the tender, fleeting ones where love shows up in its softest forms. The baby feet curled into your palms. Your toddler gripping your hand while they learn something new. The way you and your partner look at the family you have built. Those tiny moments say everything.
When I think about how lucky I feel to be holding my own metaphorical winning hand, I want the people I photograph to see that in their lives too. And that is why the words I chose to guide this business are the ones that remind me to slow down and recognize how fortunate we are to experience little and big moments to those we hold close - revel in the hand you hold.
